Bio: Derek Brown
Derek is Vice President and Professional Services Manager of Vision One IT Consulting (more commonly known as Vision One). Derek has over fifteen years of experience serving as an IT consultant to the SMB (small and medium-sized business) market in the Cincinnati, OH Metropolitan area. Derek has consulted for one-man operations, companies at the top of the Fortune 500 list, and everything in between. Notable projects have included: multi-site network infrastructure deployments for a public library and a nationwide company, large server clusters for several dozen distribution and fulfillment centers across North America; he has also flown to the global headquarters for a well-known athletic apparel company to consult on server infrastructure.
Derek has a passion for technology and a natural desire to help others. These principles are often reflected in the trust and respect he receives from his colleagues and clients. He started in the industry while still in high school, as a volunteer technology aide. He was promoted to a paid summer internship followed by a full-time position with that same school district. While working for that school district, he took Microsoft and CompTIA technical certification courses and, upon completion, was asked to teach those very courses within the district. When he transitioned to the private sector, he started as an employee for an established IT consulting company and was later invited to become a partner.
When he’s not working, Derek likes to spend his time with his family; preferably somewhere on a boat, or trail riding Utility Terrain Vehicles, UTVs, with friends.
